Student Placements The Winnipeg Health Region hosts hundreds of students on work experiences each year including students studying in health care and non-health care programs. Besides helping to train tomorrow’s doctors, nurses and allied health professionals, the Winnipeg Health Region contributes to the education and training of trades people, communications professionals, administrative assistants, accountants, graduate students, information technology professionals and many other learners. For the most part, educational institutions arrange student placements in our facilities. Below are links to specific student placement opportunities: Nursing Student Opportunities Are you a nursing student interested in working in the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority as a Health Care Aide while completing your studies? If you are, there are good opportunities for you to work as a health care aide (other example titles: health care attendant, unit assistant, unit attendant, resident assistant, home care attendant, personal care aide, integrated support staff, long term care aide, nurse’s aide, support worker, perioperative aide, anestheisia, attendant) with the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. You’ll have the chance to gain some experience in a health care setting at an average salary range of $13.81 to $16.83 per hour. In most cases, shifts can be adapted to your schedule. Casual hours are available all year round and part-time hours will be available over the holiday season and spring break. You must have equivalent credits to a Health Care Aide to apply and be available to work. Employment for New Graduates If you’ve graduated from your training program but haven’t written your licensing exam, or you’re awaiting your exam results, don’t let that stop you from applying for positions in the Winnipeg Health Region. Most professions will accept postings from nursing and allied health professionals who are in the process of receiving licensure.
